Celebrate local eats during Calhoun County Restaurant Week

The Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the area’s culinary diversity Oct. 1-14. Several area restaurants are offering Restaurant Week Specials including Jefferson’s of Oxford, Mellow Mushroom, Zaxby’s of Anniston, Mata’s Greek Pizza, Garfrerick’s Café, Peerless Grille, Thai One On, Cooter Brown’s Rib Shack, Covalli’s Italian Kitchen, Red Pepper Grill, The Bistro at Courtyard by Marriott and Heroes American Grille.

Check out what’s cooking in Relish

The October issue of Relish magazine will include such features as “Scary Good” pumpkin recipes and “Easy Chicken and Rice Soup.”

You’ll also find recipes for Maple Pear and Chocolate Pecan Pies, as well as chili using autumn staple butternut squash.

Look for the new issue of Relish in Thursday’s edition of The Anniston Star.

Before Oxfordfest, hit the Quintard Farmers Market

Come out for the Fall Festival at the Farmers Market at Quintard Mall in the south JCPenney parking lot Saturday. As usual, the market opens at 8 a.m. and special fall fest activities begin at 9 a.m. including crafts, pumpkin decorating, face painting, a bounce house and live entertainment.

Also beginning at 9 a.m., free shuttle service will be offered to and from Oxfordfest from Quintard Mall.

The farmers market runs Saturdays through Nov. 16.
