Grab lunch at Cheaha Brewery

Since opening its doors in May, the Cheaha Brewing Company in downtown Anniston has steadily increased its menu and hours of operation and has been hard at work getting the on-site brewery ready to serve up local beers.

Now that it has officially held its grand opening, the downtown Anniston brewery and restaurant will begin opening its doors even earlier, serving bar vittles, burgers, sandwiches and chef’s specials for the lunch crowd. During the month of August, stop by on Saturday afternoons and by the end of the month, look for lunch hours to expand to Wednesday through Sunday.

Shell some peas, snap some beans

Ever wanted to check out a good old-fashioned pea-shelling/bean-snapping contest? This weekend is your chance.

Stop by the Jacksonville Farmers Market Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. to find out who in Calhoun County shells the meanest pea and snaps the meanest bean. There will also be prizes, live music, not to mention fresh-baked goods and farm-fresh, local produce from area farmers and merchants.

Contact Aliza at 205-393-3510 or email jacksonvillefarmersmarket@gmail.com for more information.
