Jerry Mac Charles Sr., 67, died Thursday, October 2, 2008, at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Charles were October 4, 2008, at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Wayne Stevens officiating. Burial followed at Forestlawn Gardens. Pallbearers were Gary Jones, Mark Charles, Steven Charles, Matthew Holmes, Daniel Holmes and Paul Holmes. Survivors include his daughter, Chanda Charles (Jim) Ryan, of Navarre, Fla.; sons, Jerry Mac Charles Jr., and David Houston Charles, both of Heflin; sisters, Laine Jones and Shirley Charles, both of Heflin, Betty Lou Holmes, of Anniston and Carol Gregg, of Auburn; brothers, Billy Joe Charles and Ernest Charles, both of Heflin; grandchildren, Laura Charles, Rachel Ryan and Trace Ryan. Mr. Charles was a native and life long resident of Cleburne County. He was the former co-owner of Charles and Sons Lumber Company. Mr. Charles was a member of Heflin Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Stanford Charles.
