Services for Ruth Gossage Nichols, 93, of Goodwater were held March 1 at Dryden Funeral Home with Rev. W.E. Jones, Jr., officiating. Burial followed in the Heflin City Cemetery. Mrs. Nicols died Feb. 27 at Goodwater Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 15, 1915 and was a native of Heflin and a resident of Goodwater Alabama. She was a member of South 11th Street Baptist Church in Gadsden. Mrs. Nichols was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Nichols, daughter Janice Wahl, parents John and Jessie Gossage and brother Neal, Millard and Pledger Gossage. Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Conte of Goodwater, Regena Rojas and Jerolyn Sanders, both of Alexander City; three sisters, Ruby Kent of Heflin, Eileen Boyd of CA., Elizabeth McClean of LaGrange, GA.; two brothers, Woodrow Gossage of Sylacauga, and Kema (Doris) Gossage of Delta; five step-children, Joe Nichols, Pat Gorman, Linda Farley, Betty Harris, Carol Griffith and Genell Gossage; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
