Old cars gather in Rosewood
10-02-2003
Some 102 antique vehicles from throughout Alabama and Georgia came together Saturday for the Sixth Annual Rosewood Car Show in the Rosewood Community. The event is sponsored by the Shakers Rod Club with proceeds this year benefiting underprivileged kids. Junior Jordan, with Shakers, said that when the event began it helped the local volunteer fire department but now proceeds go to various groups. “We started out with about 14 cars and we’ve grown into this,” Jordan said. Camp Creek Baptist Church sold barbecues this year to help raise money for their youth group. “It has turned out to be a really good thing for us and the community. We enjoy spending the day out here. We also get a lot of good support from sponsors, both in Heflin and over in Tallapoosa, Georgia. The businesses have been very supportive and we send them a special thanks,” Jordan added. The event is always held the last Saturday of September.
