04-21-2008

On May 1 at 7 p.m. in the Heflin Arts Center five piano students from the University of West Georgia will give a series of three concerts.
These students study with Dr. Carol Gingerich, Associate Professor of Music. The invitation was initiated by Greg Flanders, past president of the Cleburne County School Foundation, and a graduate of Carrollton High School. Current organizational matters are being arranged by Connie Moore, Director of the Cleburne County Elementary School After School Program and a member of the Heflin Arts Council. This concert tour is also supported by Heflin Mayor, Anna Berry.
The piano students will perform and speak to students at Cleburne County High School and Cleburne County Elementary School. In the evening they will perform a concert for the Heflin Arts Council. Repertoire ranges from Mozart and Haydn, through Chopin, Liszt and Rachmaninoff, and concludes with Debussy and Zez Confrey. The student performers are from countries around the world including Korea and Haiti. They are: Yaeju Bin from Seoul, Korea, Laura English from Bremen, GA, Hans Regis from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Brittany Scott from Atlanta, GA, and Harold Walbert from Lithia Springs, GA.
